Senior UI/UX Designer

OxiWear, Inc. · Arlington, VA

  • Designed OxiWear's patient iOS/Android app end to end, including its Bluetooth link to the wearable. When engineering ruled automatic reconnection infeasible, brought engineers into field research to see users struggle through a 7-step manual reconnect mid low-oxygen alert, made the case that support tickets and lost customers outweighed the effort, and designed the reconnection flow that shipped, cutting user abandonment by 42%.
  • Led design for the clinician reporting portal overhaul with Product, Clinical, Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering. Redesigned the report pre-check to show exact data counts and coverage after clinicians at nearly every hospital customer mistook sparse long-range reports for a broken system. No missing-data escalations since launch. Proposed piloting on the lower-risk fitness dashboard first, and the medical version is now in pilot with prospective hospital clients.
  • Built OxiWear's mobile and web design system around FDA safety requirements. Designed controls for 6 patient-safety risks identified under ISO 14971, such as reserving red and amber for abnormal vitals to prevent alarm fatigue, and re-checked each control for new risks, which caught a wrong-patient record flaw before launch. Aligned it with Clinical, Product, and Engineering, and both design and engineering now build from it.
  • Manage and mentor junior designers (6 across a 5-year tenure), owning design reviews and performance evaluations.

  • Designed an AI shopping chatbot 0→1, researching user behaviour to set the bot's tone and persona and designing dialogue flows that boosted conversion by 316%.
  • Partnered with algorithm engineers to analyse query data, defining 203 core intents to reach 95% intent-recognition precision and cover 82% of user queries.

  • Designed voice interaction flows for VW's SOL EV platform, using design systems and specs to build controls for 40+ vehicle modules, including climate and media.
  • Collected and analysed 4,000+ user queries from surveys and vendors in Excel, mapping ambiguous intents to improve voice-recognition accuracy and cut error responses.
